When finishing the pencil

In the US, when you attach an eraser to a pencil,

A plain aluminum ferrule was used for general supply pencils, but

High-quality pencils use brass-colored ferrules, which are easily visible.

And in the case of a Mongolian pencil, a wide black band is applied at both ends of the metal rim.

Before the East-West Cold War, Eagle Pencils proudly advertised the 'red-banded yellow' mikado pencils.

Eagle Pencil Co., Ltd., because this red band is registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office,

It states that only Eagle pencils can be used.

This pencil is now renamed Mirado

Although it is produced by Verol, it still uses the red-banded metal rim.

Velvet pencils have a royal blue (clear and fine blue) color band,

Ticonderoga pencils have alternating green and yellow bands,

Mongol pencils have black bands on both ends of the ferrule,

Mirado pencils are yellow with red bands.

It matched very precisely.

The shape of the ferrule is slightly different depending on the production period,

There is a clear difference in ferrule for each brand.

Then there is the famous flat ferrule from Eberhard Faber.

These flat ferrules can also be found on Blackwing pencils.
