Tombow 8900 ②

The Tombow 8900 has been around since 1948.

It maintains a green (olive green) barrel.

You can see subtle color differences depending on the time of production.

You can see that they are all green.

It was engraved in the order TOMBOW → Tombow → Tombow.

Until the 1950s, even double quotation marks were engraved.

In the 1960s, double quotation marks disappeared.

The font is also slightly different.

It is engraved with MADE BY HOP TOMBOW PENCIL,

After the 1960s, it was changed to MADE BY HOP.

HOP is a trademark that has been in use since the 1920s.

It is an abbreviation for the name of the founder of Tombow Pencil.

Originally, my head was facing downwards,

The current pencil is pointing upwards.

The wings are expressed only as a border.

And the current pencil is engraved with a glossy finish.

Until the 1960s, when indicating longitude

Both sides are marked with an asterisk (*) symbol.

Since the 1970s, the symbol has disappeared

Changed the hardness to bold.

The hardness is marked in white,

The 1950s pencil is engraved with MADE IN JAPAN HOP PRODUCT,

The writing feel of the Tombow 8900 is generally thick and soft.

It has a slippery writing feel that you can feel a lot in Japanese pencils.
